Linear regression is a statistical analysis technique used to estimate the functional relationship between two or more variables, namely between the dependent variable (dependent variable; response; Y) and one or more independent variables (independent variable, predictor, X). If we only use one independent variable to predict the response, it is called simple linear regression, whereas if there is more than 1 independent variable, it is called multiple linear regression.
